The ICF Canoe Sprint World Cup 2017 is about to start in 8 days at Montemor-o-Velho High Performance Centre in Portugal.

The ICF Canoe Sprint World Cup 2017 is about to start in 8 days at Montemor-o-Velho High Performance Centre in Portugal.

A total of 27 countries will attend this first world event after Rio 2016, and some big names are on the list, in Kayak Men, Kayak women, Canoe Men and Canoe Women.

It will not be a big event, as that is saved for 2018 with the host of the World Championships where we expect 80+ countries and 1000+ athletes. This year it will be the final test event, with a total of 66 regattas during 3 days competition. Teams will have time to warm up for the following weeks of competition in Europe and enjoy the sunny beach of Figueira da Foz and the top level conditions Portugal has to offer.

Still, a lot of competition and fight for the medals is going to happen at Montemor-o-Velho venue.
Lisa Carrignton(NZL) and Sebastian Brendel(GER) are two of the Olympic and World Champions that will compete in Montemor-o-Velho but there are much more, like Staniliya Stamenova(BUL),Martin Fuksa(CZE), Maxime Beaumont(FRA),Krisztina Fazekas-Zur(HUN), Fernando Pimenta (POR) and much much more.

Local organization and International Canoe Federation have published the provisional documents for the entries, all available at canoesprintportugal.com
