Montemor will host the 2021 ICF Canoe Sprint Junior & Under 23 world championships
The International Canoe Federation Board, reunited this week in Manchester, have delivered the 2021 ICF Canoe Sprint Juniors & Under 23 World Championships to Montemor-o-Velho, Portugal.
Bidding with Russia and Poland, the Portuguese proposal was the winner of one more ICF event, the second Junior & under 23 event and the 3rd World Championships to be held in Montemor-o-Velho high Performance Centre, after 2015 and 2018.
Last time Portugal hosted this event was in 2015 and it was the biggest canoeing event in our country and involved more than 60 countries and 1000 athletes.
Montemor-o-Velho has received since 2012 a total of six events, and the most important of them all is still to come next year. The ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships 2018.
Already with some major improvements and investments on the way, including a new finish tower and facilities for this events, the Portuguese Canoe Federation, the City hall of Montemor and the Portuguese Government are now focused in the side wind issue, one of the only problems and limitations of this venue.
